Why you need an agenda for every meeting
A meeting agenda is a critical tool for anyone who has to manage and lead others. It helps keep everyone focused on the tasks at hand, prevents unnecessary distractions and keeps things moving smoothly from start to finish. An agenda also gives you an opportunity to review what was discussed in previous meetings, so that you can make note of topics or issues that require further discussion.
What’s needed in a meeting agenda?
A meeting agenda is a document that outlines all the information needed for a group of people, such as coworkers or employees, to attend a meeting. This includes:
- Who will be in attendance
- The purpose of the meeting
- What topics theyβll be discussing
- Time allotments for each agenda item
By creating this document ahead of time and sending it out before your meeting begins, you allow attendees to come prepared with ideas and any documents they need. Plus, it gives them time to look over anything else relevant so that they donβt waste valuable time during the actual meeting.
Sample agenda format example
if you can’t find what you need in the meeting templates above, below is a sample meeting agenda you can copy/paste and use on your own. It’s a blank slate, so you can fill it in with your own ideas and thoughts.
